The Fiji 5K is Savannah's premier Charity 5K designed to promote a healthy lifestyle. Obesity in America is out of control....upwards of 60% of Americans are now considered to be overweight. By helping children maintain a healthy weight through better education and increased activity, we can all start to make a difference for future generations.
The Fiji 5K is made possible through the volunteer efforts and corporate sponsorship from many fantastic organizations and individuals.
The race is an open course composed of city and neighborhood streets and sidewalks, passing by a salt marsh, and ponds.
Restrooms, Parking, Snacks, and Prizes will all be available at location.
Memorial Health Medical Staff will be on location to take blood pressures and calculate BMIs for interested individuals.
Purpose:
The purpose of the run is to facilitate a healthy lifestyle in the local community. Proceeds will directly benefit Savannah's Youth and Recreation Services through the We Can program.
We Can! or "Ways to Enhance Children's Activity & Nutrition" is a national program designed for families and communities to help children maintain a healthy weight. The program focuses on three important behaviors: improved food choices, increased physical activity, and reduced screen time.

The We Can program supports the educational component, while fundraising for the local Youth and Recreation Services will promote the physical component of quality health.
Additional Information:
The Fiji 5K's Trademark Publication titled The Fiji Vacation Diet is a healthy lifestyle book and is available at booksellers including Amazon.com. The authors, Drs. Brent and Anna Harris will be available for signing during race day.
